
4月26日、BMWは新型5シリーズの新たなグレードバリエーションとして「BMW M550d xDrive」を、セダンとツーリングに設定したことを本国で発表した。
それは世界最強の6気筒ディーゼル
モデル名から察しがつくように、このモデルはM540i xDriveと同様にMパフォーマンスモデルの一員であると同時にディーゼル車でもある。搭載されるのは400ps/760Nmを引き出す3.0リッター直列6気筒ディーゼルで、4つのターボチャージャーが搭載されている。駆動方式はxDriveのネーミングからわかるように4輪駆動だ。0-100㎞/h加速はセダンで4.4秒、ツーリングは4.6秒をマークする。高水準のアウトプットを実現する一方で、セダンで16.9㎞/L、ツーリングで16.1㎞/Lの燃費(欧州複合モード)を発揮するのも新世代モデルらしい。
外観ではフロントグリルフレームやバンパーインサート、ミラーカバーなどがセリウムグレイにペイントされるほか、19インチの軽合金ホイールもセリウムグレイカラーを採用。Mパフォーマンスモデルとして、Mスポーツサスペンション(10㎜ローダウン)やインテグラルアクティブステアリング、Mパフォーマンス・ツインテールパイプ、Mスポーツブレーキなどが装着されている。
