わずか2日間の練習で達成
過去6度、オリンピックで金メダルを獲得するなど、輝かしい経歴を持つイギリスの元自転車競技選手クリス・ホイが、ニッサン・ジュークを使って片輪走行に挑戦した。
このスタントは、映画の007シリーズやナイトライダーなどで一躍有名になったもので、高度なハンドリング技術を要する。一般的にこのスタント走行は、2カ月におよぶ練習が必要とされているが、クリス・ホイはなんと、2日間で達成したというからすごい。
クリス・ホイは有名スタントマンのテリー・グラントの指導のもと、シルバーストーンサーキットなどで練習を開始。練習初日は、スタビライザーホイール、いわゆる補助輪やロールケージを装備して転倒に備えたが、2日目の練習で、早くもスタビライザーホイールを外し、片輪走行を見事達成。2輪の競技でオリンピックを何度も制した者は、クルマを2輪で走らせることも決して難しいことではなかった、というわけである。
